Right channel is dead...why is it always Bose headphones that die?

Hi All,

Why is it always Bose headphones in the right channel/ear?

After 3 years of having a pair of these quite expensive headphones, the right channel has gone for no apparent reason. Phoned Bose support here in Australia and apparently as "there are no repairable parts" on these units they aren't able to do anything other than offer me a huge discount on a new pair (AUD220, as opposed to the AUD235 that I originally paid for them - wow, huge saving). Taken them apart carefully and there are no apparent broken cable nor damaged circuit boards. Could be a dry joint but thought I'd ask IFixit folks first!

I have seen lots of blog posts and YouTube videos on Bose headphone repairs, but none on the AE2w units. Has anyone had issues with these units?
