Lcd cable or motherboard?

Hello, here is the story:

My Dell inspiron 15 3537 screen was flashing, I decided ti change it with another one (some olders dells lcd). It did not worked so I putted back my flashy one. So after assembling I got beep 8 times once I power on.

Ok I found out this is some lcd failure. I tried this D key + power button - it worked. But suddenly I decided to try again and put the old one again (i made sure if I plugget it tight) -_- I got beep again and D + power button do not work anymore.

I tried with hdmi with my tv, It still beeps and no picture on laptop and tv.

What do you think did I screwed up the lcd cable or its motherboard? I really wasn't really carefull

tamulism it is possible that the old laptop screen shorted out the video circuitry. Just because the LCD screen connector fits your model, does not mean it is made for your model. The wiring may have been totally different. Going by your description alone, it sounds like you've created a short circuit on the motherboard.

I acctualy think same. But are we talking about the same part, which costs ~100$? the main board? or its some seperate motherboard for lcd? sorry for stupid question

Btw now I have one loud beep and 7 silent, so sould I understand it as lcd fail or the one beep - motherboard? thanks

tamulism "one loud beep and 7 silent" what do you mean by silent beep? There is no separate board. The video circuitry is on your motherboard.

emm, it is like first beep is clearly hear and other 7 beeps you are not even sure if you hear it so probably i should understand it as a one beep which means change the motherboard, I guess
