Glass Only Repair - What did I do wrong?

Hi all, just attempted my first glass only repair on a Galaxy S5, and I thought that everything was going well, but I ended up with two vertical arcing light spots on either side of the screen, visible even with the power off. Could the heat have been too high? I had the hot plate set at 85C. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, you had the hotplate turned up too high. It should have been around 60-65C. I think you warped it.

Well that's unfortunate. Most of the videos and articles I came across said 80-95. :(

Always check to see if the temperatures are in centigrade or fahrenheit

Which Temperature on LCD Separators is free of risks?

This thread is one of the ones I was referencing. The OP specifically asked for temperatures in C, and the first response was that 80 was standard.

This artIcle goes so far as to say that they use 120C on Galaxy phones. Seems a long way off from 60-65C.

Not trying to challenge anyone or anything. I'm sure you are correct. Just wondering why so many others out there recommend temps that are so much drastically higher?

Let's put it this way. My hair dryer was around 65C, it worked perfectly. Higher temperatures require you to move extremely quick. Those who do this for a living I am sure can use 80C without damage, but if you keep that temperature at the same place too long, damage occurs.
