Sounds like either a bad battery or dying logic board, if it's the logic board, then you're better off buying a new unit, so I suggest you try the battery first, however, it doesn't look like iFixit carries 4th gen batteries, so you'll have to look elsewhere (ebay, amazon, cl, etc.) but here's the guide to replacing the battery.
