Why does my new shuffle not appear in itunes under devices?

It could be a few things, it could be any combination of software and/or hardware issues but, my first thought is that your computer(s) don't have the minimum required version of iTunes, which is version 10, you can download the latest version of iTunes here for Mac or here for Windows. (you also need to make sure your computer(s) meet the minimum requirements for iTunes 10 as well). My second thought is that your computer(s) dont meet the minimum operating system requirements for your ipod shuffles which are:

Mac system requirements

Mac computer with USB 2.0 port

Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later

iTunes 10 or later

Internet access is required; broadband recommended

Windows system requirements

PC with USB 2.0 port

Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Home or Professional or later

iTunes 10 or later

Internet access is required; broadband recommended

Carrie forget itunes, use this program (ipod copy transfer) so much better.

It is my opinion that you are better off to continue to use iTunes since it has a broader base for people to assist in case you are running into any further trouble. If you just purchased these shuffles they should still be under some kind of warranty. Try to replace them with your seller. The other thing that has happened to me was that the device did not show up under iTunes but showed up in my computer. Do your show up as a USB device when you plug them in? I actually had purchased a Chi pod and it would never sync with iTunes but it did work as a mp3 player under the USB device.. So let us know what you got.....good luck
