Frozen unresponsive screen. Can it be repaired?

Hi!

I have a Kindle Paperwhite, 6" High Resolution Display (300 ppi) with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi - bought in October 2015.

Kept well, it hasn't fallen down, nothing untoward. Stopped working. The screen had an erratic display for a while, and has now stopped responding.

Can anyone help?

I had this problem with an e-reader and it turned out that it quit charging. After placing the e-reader on a new charger it started working again. The models we use in our school are all nooks but this may help you out too.

Hey! Thank you so much. But this one is charging. No problems with that. Just that the screen gave an erratic display and then stopped responding. I am trying to understand if it is a screen or motherboard issue. Will try and fix it accordingly.

Try tapping (or knocking with your nail) in the bottom right corner of the front. (Edit: you can also try bringing a magnet to that corner and bringing it away)

If it responds, then I have a workaround for this, that I’ll publish as a “technique” guide within the next few days. (EDIT: here it is!) The only problem with that guide is that it will no longer respond when opening/closing the cover
