Needs to have internet drivers manually installed

I have a computer that was windows 7. I had bought windows 8 for another computer I never used. So I call microsoft and ask can I install it on this computer since I did buy it. They said yes, so we upgraded it to windows8. It would not connect to the internet. Bought the wi-fi antenna they said. It still will not connect. Then microsoft said that I have too pay for the drivers!!. So a friend told me there is a way to manually download the drivers to a stick. and the install them off the memory stick. Sorry for the spelling I am not happy with Microsoft.

What computer? What Model and brand. Its possible just we need the info to do this.

Is the PC working correctly? If so, all you have to do is connect to the internet and the drivers will automatically install.

Are we dealing with a computer that has no Ethernet port or is one available and can you connect this way ?

If you can then connect via wire and then go to your device manager and find your Network adapters expand that and then right click on the controller and then click on update drivers. If there is no joy with a direct wired connection find out what your network adapter is and do a google search or go to the company support page and download the proper drivers that way put them on a jump drive then plug the drive into your computer and install the drivers that way . Hope this helps

no I connected it straight to the box. It finds my internet wireless or connected with cord, it cannot connect with out the windows 8 internet drivers themselves.

@trnsmisonfixer , TJ, Drivers should have came with your antenna, if not try doing a search using your antenna's (make and model# drivers). Yeh I had a friend intown. The antennas is installed right, I was told by Microsoft tech even that it did not download the internet drivers for windows 8, then they told me I have too pay extra for them. I have been told by a couple of computer guys that said you have to download each one and then install it or pay microsoft.

Sorry I was not clear. It is not the antenna drivers it is the windows 8 internet drivers that are not there

I want to thank everybody for your help! I finally talk to Microsoft and Monday they are going to call me and wave the fee and send the drivers to this computer so I can transfer them over to fix it.

I just want too warn people talk too Microsoft before you upgrade to windows 8 or 10, they make you purchase those drivers after you download the new operating system. That is what the tech told me from Microsoft just make sure before you purchase an upgrade, so you do not go through what I had too.
