The fuel gauge went to empty, and the light and alarm still beeps. Plenty of gas and added more to be safe. Work is 60 miles round trip. Running ok. Is there a fuse? Or would the light and alarm not work with blown fuse?

@linatthelakes, Linda Higgins, General motors fuel sending units have been bad for years, they are found in the fuel tank as part of the fuel pump assy. Then in about 2003-07 faulty gauges became a problem because of flawed gage motor(stepper motor) which control the needle on the gage. The problem could be gauge, sending unit, fuse or wiring. The most common gauge problems are either a bad ground at the tank, or a fuel sender problem. It is best to check the fuse and all wiring connections are clean, tight and free of corrosion as a first step. Some times the fuel gage/sending unit problem can be picked up by the on board computer and is called a trouble/diagnostic code, Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track.

@lpfaff1 I recycle answers quit often but to have the exact same question days apart . Have you ever asked a question here? Theres a drop box that says This question may have already been answered . Wouldn't you check there first . I assume that's why so many questions get posted in old posts. Oh well Its still good answer , the second time round
@jimfixer , I have not asked a question. Have you experienced the GM gas gage issue, I have seen a lot of them, if not a bad loose plug under the car then the sender in the tank and then the cluster and now even some of the newer stuff. Have a good evening.
@lpfaff1 Ya this and the disappearing odometer. Both can be very frustrating
