DSi speaker connection not found, also power issues
A few months ago I bought two second hand DSi units on ebay when I found them for the low low price of £8 for two DS lites and two DSis in one nice package. I mostly wanted the DS lites but have now found myself opening up the DSis and have found out why the price was so low. These units were torn apart and the innards sold as repair parts. One of the units was a complete mess with cut ribbon cables and ripped wires, while the other one simply required a few connections putting back in place - or so it seemed. After putting everything in what seemed to be the logical places, I put the unit back together tried booting it and nothing. Charge, reboot, nothing. I opened it up again and then opened the top half of the clam shell to find the speakers had been salvaged. This makes me wonder - does the unit fail to power on due to the absence of the speakers? I know from experience modding the DSlites that when you remove the speakers you have to reconnect the positive and negative connections for the speaker using a resistor to make sure it's a closed circuit. So I began the hunt for the positive and negative connection for the speakers but it still elludes me. So here I have two questions: will the absence of speakers without reconnecting the circuit cause the unit to fail to power? And secondly, if it does, where are the connection points I need to reconnect? Of course, I have more theories as to why the unit suffers these symptoms. I unscrewed the power board and inspected the rear to check the power connections were not obstructed and found something suspicious. I could not find any ribbon or cable from the three solder connections coming from the battery, nor did I see anything connected to the solder on the ends of the Vcc and GND connections on the power board. Are these connections located inside one of the multiple layers of the PCB or did the previous owner strip off the cables?
