Why is my TV not powered on

I was watching the TV when the power goes off, as soon as the power was restored, I tried putting it on but the equipment refused to come up. What could be the problems/solutions. Thank you

emmanuel_oyebanjo what exact model is your TV? Most likely not a very old TV. Have you checked for any warranty on it? If so, use that first. Depending on where you are located, you may also want to check your homeowners insurance policy.

are you using a surge protector in your TV extension cord . (Surge protectors prevent the sudden discharge of energy into the TV when the power goes out preventing the fuses from being blown.)

Surge protectors clearly do not "prevent the sudden discharge of energy into the TV when the power goes out preventing the fuses from being blown". Nothing in specifications even discuss most of that.

A 120 volt protector has a let-through voltage of 330 volts. That means AC voltage must well exceed 330 volts before it will do anything. Power loss (120 volts dropping to zero) and power restoration (voltage slowly rising up to 120 volts) never approaches 330 volts. Protector does nothing.

Fuses blow when a 1 or 2 amp TV demands 20 amps (a 15 amp circuit) or 25 amps (a 20 amp circuit) for a very long time - seconds. Protector does nothing to protect or blow that fuse. Worse, if that near zero joules protector (ie hundreds of joules) tries to absorb a potentially destructive surge, then a thermal fuse (a completely different fuse) may disconnect protector parts. And leave that surge still connected to attached appliances.

One should learn numbers (specifications) that say what these things really do. These plug-in protector are too often promoted only by lies and ignorance.

TV does not power on? Plug a light bulb in the same receptacle to confirm power exists and that movement on that receptacle does not create intermittents.
