Hello
I have this logic board (emc2351) which is completely dead, I was looking through all the components for continuity with my multimeter and this capacitor seems dead. What does it do and where can I find one to replace it?
It says 014 pc 39 16 and is located right on top of the ram on the bottom of the card

Hi, I assume that you have a 820-2879-B board. How are you checking for continuity? Capacitors shouldn't have continuity, as they do not allow DC current to flow through. Can you send a picture of the capacitor you're talking about?

Resistance is the same thing as continuity, so the resistance across a capacitor should be infinite. You cannot measure this accurately within a circuit however, as there are other paths electricity can take to get to the other side of a capacitor. You can isolate the issue to a capacitor by injecting voltage into the positive end and seeing if the capacitor gets hot, or by removing it and seeing if that fixes the issue. What is the resistance in ohms to ground from the capacitor to ground (screw hole)?
