Screen dead, fan spins 100%

So about a week ago i upgraded my imac's ssd and cpu and everything was good. Then, the backlight stopped working(just the backlight). I could still use it if i shined a bright light on it. Today though i opened up my imac again, undid the cable connections and promptly reconnected them. Now for some reason the whole screen is dead and the fan spins as fast as it can right after startup. Anyone have a clue?( F*** apple and myself this sux)

Update (12/03/2016)

*the backlight stopped working when i upgraded cpu

Update (12/03/2016)

iMac 5k late 2015 EMC 2834 3.2GHz intel core i5 6500(upgraded to intel core i7 6700k 4.0 GHz)

imac specs:

cpu specs: http://ark.intel.com/m/products/88195/In...

What is your exact model? Locate it here: EveryMac - Lookup and paste the URL here so we can see it.

Next we really need to know what the specs are of the CPU you put in. Please locate it from here: Intel ARK

Lastly, which SSD did you put in SATA or PCIe) and did you use the needed in-line thermal sensor from OWC if you put in a SATA SSD?

I think Im just gonna throw in the towel and take it to a specialist....even if this repair costs $1000 i still will have paid less than if i bought a new imac with these specs from apple

I think you'll need to double check your system by putting back the i5 CPU back in to see if the system is still working here.

From the specs perspective you have the correct chip. As this is such a new system I don't think many people have swapped out CPU's. Is there a reason you did this Vs getting the high end model from the get go?

From what you've stated here you should be working, so that leaves the question if you damaged something in the process. If you are able to swap the chips and the system recovers then it's likely the chip you got is defective.

Yeah i tried doing that. I probably screwed up something on the logic board unfortunately....but i bought this refurbished it was like $1500 and i paid $450 for the cpu and ssd, and apples version of my imac is like 3 grand compared to my $1950 haha

And i know the cpu is all good because 2 days ago and for almost a week before that I was using it fine, just without a backlight

Sorry guy ;-{ Doesn't sound good here.

The only hope here is to carefully put everything back together with the original chip. Then bring the system into an Apple Store and get it serviced by them. Sadly, they will only put back in another i5 logic board. An Apple Authorized Service Center will only be able to do the same.

While an independent might be able to diagnose your problem and repair it, schematics are still hard to come by as its just to new a system. So do be careful who you bring your system to.

Check your connection, if the fan is running 100% could be over worked and then you would have to replace the fan or check for any loose connections if the fan replacement doesn't work, could be the temp connector.

Yeah since then ive stripped it apart and put it back together twice, even going as far as replacing thermal paste on cpu/gpu
