Heat Sinks are stuck to the Processor

I've removed the hex nuts from both heat sinks on my Mac Pro 2,1 - I was intending to upgrade the two processors – The Heat Sinks are absolutely stuck as if they are epoxied to the Processor by the thermal paste. No movement what-so-ever, almost as if there is another screw or clip holding them in place. Is there a way to loosen this area with Thermal Material Remover?

I would give an ultrasonic cleaner a try with a solvent that can remove (soften) the thermal paste. You should try a twisting motion vs splitting the parts apart.

Just be careful on what you use! As you don't want the fumes to ignite from a spark!
