Hi
I'm having trouble with my Vauxhall zafia. My tail /brake lights work as they should when ignition is off but when on or turn the key then they are on at all times. I've swapped the brake switch but now I'm clueless. Thanks

Adam, Recheck brake switch to see that it is adjusted correctly, on some vehicles the brake pedal may drop slightly due to computer cycling anti lock,brake motor,etc.( with an assistant, with key on, pull up on brake pedal to see if brake light goes out). If light does not go out check all wires/sockets to rear tail/brake lights for corrosion,damage,burnt/melted, bare wire causing a short. Also if you have a trailer light hook up, especially if it has a inline trailer light converter unhook it, as they can cause issues when they become faulty or short.

Adam, to answer your question we need more info. year, make, model,engine, transmission and , which switch did you change, after changing switch what is it doing, Any damage,accidents,recent work,etc.
The more info. the better ifixit can answer your question more effectively. Thanks.

Hi, Try removing the brake light fuse (is it OK?) and see if it comes on either way i.e. with ignition on / off. With the fuse removed and the ignition on, if they still light then you will have to trace where the power is coming from.
Here is a link to the wiring diagrams for 2001-2004 Opel Zafira. Hopefully yours will be similar and this is of some help.
