Screen only works when pressing behind top left corner

Hi all

I've had a problem with my iPhone lately where the screen randomly stops working. I found out if i press from behind top left corner of device simultaneously as i hold it (so it becomes some kind of tension), it works right away.

Tried to replace LCD and metal shield plate.

Someone who might know the problem here?

It sounds to me like the connectors are not pressed down hard enough. Open the phone back up and try to pushing the connectors down a bit more.

Or worst case touch IC going bad, which is more likely to occur on the 6+.

Imad Knight s answer is partially correct, it sounds like whatever connection is there, where or near where you are pressing is not getting good contact. This could unfortunately be more than just a loose connection, so going in and pushing on everything that looks like a connection is not the answer. You said you did a screen replacement right? So you should know where the connections are for the digitizer, if they are all making good contact to clean contact points and still not working, you could have a cracked solder joint, in which case a repair or reflow will need to be performed to regain continuity, or could be even a broken ZIF connection, kinked ribbon cable, etc. . If you come to find out that every thing seems OK and the only thing that seems to work is applying pressure to the point you mentioned, then one way of "repairing it" is to place something non conductive on top of the connection as a wedge so that when it is closed back up, the material you inserted is essentially doing the same thing for you that you are doing when you are applying pressure. Understand that I am not endorsing this as an acceptable fix or common practice, but as more of a work-around because sometimes we just don't have the time to keep messing with it. That being said, I have used this and had it last the length of many devices lifetimes.

BONUS TIP: Continuity tester and the knowledge of its use goes a long way for many repairs including this one.

GOOD LUCK BUDDY and Take your time....

In small electronics repair, I like to apply the same ethic as a doctor, which is why I say take your time cuz its easy to end up making something worse, so...

I have the same issue with my iphone 5c but it's a little more complicated, the image "dies" if I don't press the top right corner, this error ocurred after I replace the screen, which is ironic, because I was fixing and issue and found another! I read a few blogs and saw a couple of videos saying that may be dust in the connectors, but nothing helps me, BTW, I tried to put my screen in another phone, and it died too... was my screen broken, ok so a new screen should work, right? WRONG! no matter how many screens I test on my phone all of them keep dying the image if I don't keep pressing, so you're probably thinking that my motherboard is broken, but nothing explains why other phones when in contact with my screen die too... a "screen virus?" I don't know, the only thing I know is that I can't find a diagonosis except to buy a new one since we're talking of a 2013 iphone 5c running in 2018, there's no warranty anymore!
