This has happened to me before. Trying to update iOS system on an iPhone by connecting it to iTunes with a non-MFi cable.

How to Easily Fix Error 9 on iPhone

完成的

For error 9 on iPhone 6, it is generally recommended that users use iTunes to recover or update the issue. Open iTunes on your computer> Press and hold the iPhone's power and Home button for 10 seconds> Connect the device to your computer with USB > Click Restore http://bit.ly/2Rn6sAx

For a successful restore:

Make sure the battery is holding some charge, you are using a known good original cable, and charging port is clean.

Force the phone into DFU mode.

Disconnect all the flat cables from the board, keep only the display cables (2 cables), lightning/charging dock cable, battery. You can leave power on/off cable and home button cable to force DFU.

Now try to restore from DFU.

The above in general will get you through any restore successfully if the phone is not suffering from a major hardware issue that prevents the phone from completing the restore process.

ERROR 9:

Now the bad news: I doubt Error 9 will be solved by the above steps. "We" believe it is due to hardware issues on the board, and we think the phone is dropping the communication with iTunes during the restore process.

It could be for a number of reasons, some of them fixable, some of them we have not be able to solve.

If you don't succeed in restoring as per the instructions above, there is nothing you can do as a DIYer in my humble opinion, at this time. Even for seasoned micro solderers, it can be a challenge.

Here's an example of an Error 9 iPhone 6 that we were able to solve by drilling in the CPU of the iPhone to rewire missing lines. In this case we were not able to save the data because the iPhone was mishandled before reaching us, which led to data corruption. Luckily the owner had his photos backed up.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you know what i can disconnect as the lcd and the camera before the restoration ?

完成的

Yes you can keep the screen disconnected, but will not be able to tell if you induced DFU mode successfully. In restore mode, you see "connect to iTunes" wire/logo on the screen. In DFU mode, the screen remains black until the restore starts, then you see the Apple then the progression bar. If you feel confident about getting it into restore mode, then go ahead an restore without the screen.

Kept getting error 9 on a iphone 6 that would not restore even after 10 attempts . Applied heat over nand ic and cpu and did the restore immediately after and restore completed with no errors.

My husband has Iphone SE. It was interrupted during an update and everything went bananas: the Itunes logo with the USB cable was on the screen and we were unable to update it or restore it via Itunes because it was repeatedly showing error 9. It was completely stuck. It was nerve wrecking and we were told that the phone should be trashed or replaced with the new one. We found several solutions online, but none of them seemed to work. After searching for a while, we combined several solutions. This is what we did ( I use Windows 7 ultimate ): delete the LockDown folder of Itunes on the computer , delete the file from the recycle bin and restart the computer. I took a hair dryer and heated the phone (not too much, you do not want to damage it ) . Plug the earbuds. Open iTunes, connect the phone and put it to the DFU mode ( press home and power button together, when the screen goes dark release the power button, but keep pressing the home button, until you hear the sound of the computer recognizing USB device) and then restored it. We were not able to save the data, but we saved the phone. I do not know will this work for you or for anyone else, but this is what we did and it worked for us.

One more thing: I turned off antivirus and the firewall, so there was no interference.

None of that is relevant to your success in clearing error 9 other than the heating with a hairdyer part---which is an extremely dangerous way to magically solve some iPhone hard drive faults in a limited number of cases. It will also kill many otherwise repairable phones.

I suppose this is something to do with heating the area of the Nand flash / baseband chip? Which is of course could very well result in a dead phone.

完成的

I've gotten passed error 9 by heating baseband chip, although I don't recommend if it can be prevented. I believe something to do with weak joint. When iTunes verifies baseband during restore it can't communicate with it. Heating it enough can reflow the balls underneath and iTunes can once again communicate with it.

Guys, error 9 can mean a lot of things, not just a harware issue. Many people solved it without opening or heating the phone. To be honest,I did not care about the possibility to kill the phone,it was half dead anyway. I will never again buy any of Apple's products, overpriced trash.
