I was given this iPhone 6 from a colleague of mine and he had the screen replaced by Apple, but it only has a black LED when the power is on. When I try to factory reset it the Apple logo only shows up then. I need help to try and fix it!

I think @sfsrepair is right. That could work. Or Dr. Fone. I've heard good things about that. Or connect to iTunes and attempt an update. If you do a restore, it will wipe the phone, and you'll need to have your buddy put in his email/password and then he/she can erase the phone, then you can use it

I'd try from DFU. 50% chance of success. Otherwise some random board issue that may be narrowed down a bit depending on the error we see next.
Use 3u (Freeware) it´s much better than Dr. Fone (no Freeware you have to pay for "deep fix" (nothing but snake oil)). 3u can restore the Phone and is able to backup the user data during the restoring process.
Yeah @rany I don't know why I thought this guy might wanna keep the data, when it's not even his phone originally
@sfsrepair i haven't actually tried either of them. But I've been meaning to. Does 3u have a license you purchase, or do you have to pay every time?
