Screen stays black but receiving calls and buttons work.

The phone vibrates and even rings. I can use Quicktime (record) to see that the phone is actually working. The screen stays black on the device though and since it's locked I can't use Siri. I tried a soft reset and it doesn't work.

Which parts would I need to replace?

I'm worried cause I hadn't backed up the phone in a month and that's a lot of videos and recordings of live performances that will be lost if I can't do anything. I don't think there is but any way to backup the phone if it's locked and iTunes asks for passcode?

Hi,

Any recent drops? Any liquid damage? Any recent repairs? If you could answer them we could help out much more.

Either way, you could try a new screen and see if that solves your issue, if not, the backlight has probably blown on it and would require microsoldering.

If it is liquid damage, the corrosion would need cleaning up and then the logic board would need to be evaluated to see what has been damaged and what needs replacing etc. :-)

Thanks for the quick answer. It was dropped yesterday. Had a cheap cover and it worked normally all night and stopped working this morning.

I would take it to the Apple Store as it would still be under warranty! :-)
