new battery not charging consistantly

Replaced my Macbook battery. When on the charger, sometimes the light on the connector will show green even though the battery isn't fully charged. Occasionally the laptop can sit on the charger for hours and still not be fully charged. Ill have to connect and re connect the charger many time before the laptop will begin to start charging again.
