From a Technicians point of view:

That Laptop is about 11 years old, It probably has Windows XP installed on it and the hardware would not be capable of running applications that exist now. With that being said, I would consider getting a newer laptop.

Why?:

- XP is no longer supported, so with it not receiving security patches from Microsoft, you would be vulnerable to hackers and malware.

- Even if you upgraded it to Windows 7, It would be slower then molasses on a cold day...Up Hill! and you would want to throw it out the window anyway.

Resetting the password in Windows XP: If you insist on using it.....

- Turn it on while at the same time pressing F8 continuously till you see a menu with a black background that gives you an option for SAFE MODE. Highlight SAFE MODE by using the up and down arrows of your keyboard.

- It will go into a screen that displays an Administrator account, and the account that you want to change the password to. Select the ADMINISTRATOR account and let it log in...(This account should not have a password)

- When logged in, go to Control Panel and then go to Users

- In user accounts, select your account that you want to change the password to. There should be an option to delete the password for this account.....Delet the password, then reboot the computer.

- You should now be able to log into your account and it not ask for a password.
