14 Power button only works when lifted off with a suction cup

The power button works normally when the white panel is lifted off the screen frame, but when I put it back, it doesn't work.
I tried with the white panel of another Cinema Display and the result is the same, so it's probably not the white panel itself.
This is very strange, what could be wrong here?
