Note 3 screen doesn't switch off

Hi, my galaxy note 3 screen won't turn off except when the battery is out. I dropped my phone in water 3 weeks ago. When there is power every time I try to lock my phone to turn the screen off it refuses to do so. What would be the problem? The charger for phone isn't working as well but atm I'm using other phone chargers for note 3 and it works.
