Working charge port, but battery holds no charge?

Hello!

I recently replaced a bent chassis on my iPhone 6, and the whole procedure appears to have gone over well. However the battery seems to hold absolutely no charge.

Everything about the phone appears to work, but only when connected to a charger.

If i take the charger out, the phone shuts down immediately. I'm assuming from this that an iPhone 6 would be able to power up even without a battery connected (?) running purely on power supplied from the charge port.

Has anyone else ever encountered this?

Is the solution simply to replace the battery or is it possible this is due to a bad connection to the battery?

EDIT: Additionally, it might be worthwile to note that the battery indicator is fully green while it is connected to a charger and powered on.

Thanks for any insight.

I have a feeling the battery is not being detected by the phone properly as you said it stays at 100%. Better to try replacing the iPhone 6 battery first.

Terje,

These batteries are adhered to the frame with two strips of very strong adhesive. Sometimes pulling these batteries out of the chassis causes damage to the battery by bending it. There is a way to take out the battery without damaging it by pulling the adhesive tabs located at the bottom of the battery above the charge port. You have to master this technique though. If the battery is bent it can be reshaped but may not work properly anymore.

Also, check to see if the connector on the battery and logic board are not damaged. This will keep the battery connector from sitting down flat and making a good connection. Check for any debris in the connectors. The iPhone 6 needs the battery to be present for it to work correctly that is why when you disconnect the charger it dies. The device thinks the battery is not present if the battery is bad. If these situations are eliminated, try a different battery.

If a new battery doesn't work there my be damage to the logic board. Be careful about assuming it is the replacement battery, I have got bad batteries from vendors.

It appears the connection between the battery and the logic board was loose. I opened it and refastened it and the battery appears to work like normal. No damage had thankfully been done to the battery during removal & reseating. The battery was the original that came with the iPhone as i only changed the chassis due to it being slightly bent.
