You need a SWR Meter connected inline to verify your tuning of the output power of your CD Radio and the VSWR of your tuning of the Antenna.

If someone local can hear you and talk back, then the radio is on frequency.
If you are weak on transmit only then you will need to measure power out with a borrowed meter.
If you are weak both on transmit and receive locally check for the proper DC voltage in and SWR out.
Otherwise;
Remember the 11 and 23 year sunspot cycles.
The CB band was created when the number of sunspots were low and no DX happened on the 11 meter ham band that became the CB band.
CB was intended to be cheap business band radio for ->local<- delivery businesses.
The number of sunspots is dropping, it may be six to eight years before the DX returns.
The morse code requirement has been dropped for Ham radio, and the cost of studying for and getting the license is cheap.

I’ve read all answers but done all that except one thing and that’s the power supply which I’ve been told what I’m using is weak and that’s cigarette lighter plugs, and need straight connections with good manly thick wires feeding them straight from the battery and nothing else , maybe try that as last result !!!!!!

I got same but when I first set up its was brilliant my set up is in the car, with a ranger rig and I have a 100 watt amp and basically brand new mag mount, as said brilliant at first but it’s been getting worse as time goes by. Thou what a nightmare from start things going wrong like power supply failing so sorted better connections then coax with the rig to amp then mic problems with coming away at plug. But now all ok except this signal both inner and outer.
I’ve checked everywhere but nothing wrong, even my swr is checking out at hardly nothing showing right at the lowest possible. Cant work it out, all I can think of is it’s the mic not the best , not sure
