Problem with Gigabyte GTX 970 PC startup

Hi,

At the beginning everything was working fine, some time ago I've noticed that my PC have problems with start-up, it's not an issue related with power supply (I have three now...), RAM, processor, cooling nor motherboard, because from time to time it's working (I have no idea why), and the interesting thing is that I have other GTX - a 560 model, which works completely fine.

I sent back GTX 970 to the seller and they said it's working on their computer, so where is the problem? I've been thinking that maybe the BIOS is outdated, but I can't check it if my PC won't pass through BIOS to Windows (no "beep", monitor is black - actually it's not turning on with GTX 970 connected) everything else is working (fans - even 970's fans are rotating!) fine I guess. And also I've been disconnecting everything and start from the scratch - even trying to connect all items to my new motherboard (ASROCK) - nothing has changed.

Please HELP!

P.S.: Sorry for my bad english, I'm frustraited!

Is it the GTX 970 Basic or the GTX 970 EVGA? Apparently the EVGA one is way better in performance. What Computer are you attempting to install it on, it might not be able to handle the new Video Card.

It is exactly this one:

And it was working for over month completely normal, after that suddenly sotpped responding :)

完成的

Try your old Video Card if you still have it and if it doesn't work then it is most likely your motherboard.

完成的

But the problem occurs on both motherboards, I don't know what it depend on, I've checked everything, and GTX 970 is working from time to time (mostly not working).

Can you send it back to get your money back? I would if you could and get another one or a different one because that one might still be bad even though they said it tested good they could be lying.

Hi everyone, it appears that the problem was exactly with the GTX 970, now I have to return it to the seller and wait for verification. I hope they will give me my money back so I can buy other graphic card, maybe this time 980 (I heard that 970 have problem with its RAM, and the problem might be related with this).

Thankis for help! :)

Did you already try resetting the CMOS?

You could always upgrade your BIOS to a new version, just to be certain that everything is up-to-date anyway.

For that just drop in the 560, since you could always drop in the 970 after the bios upgrade and see what it does.

Yes, as I mentioned I have already updated the bios to the latest version, and I did it yesterday. It unfortunetly didn't help. Was not trying resetting the CMOS, will try to perform it later on and let you know if it helped :)

Alright! Let me know! ;)

Just tried to reset CMOS, funny thing is there are only two pins on this motherboard, but I manged to use this small switch from other motherborad, unfortunetly it didn't work, GTX970 is still not working as it should...

完成的

And every power connector has been properly connected right?

And those connectors, are they both coming from one cable (split as in 6-pin and 6+2 ) or are they each seperately coming from the psu? (each having a separate power cable)

完成的

I will try them out tomorrow again, and will make sure everything is connected as it should be, but I'm pretty sure everything is fine i the 560 is working correctly.

Hallo

Hello

I had a similar error with a Packard Bell some time ago.

In the end, the hard drive turned out the temporarily ran well, more intensive testing with multiple programs completed and yet every now and then simply exposed. The error manifested itself by having startup problems, such as running in a continuous loop, etc. Then everything brisk work was again several minutes i.o therefore possible and then began the fun all over again.

Have you ever tried to hang on the computer to another hard drive. Did then backed up my data and cloned the Windows partition to a new plate and away was the mistake. It was probably the control electronics of Festplatte.Jedenfalls was then corrected my mistake.

Google Translate is your Friend.

Sounds like he is saying it might be a HDD issue or a Software update issue.

I have 3 hard drives - one SSD with the system and other two HDDs with other stuff, I might take a look, but then why is everything working fine with old GeForce (560) and not working with 970? :/

Anyway will try this later. Thanks for help :)

Disconnecting drives didn't help, I wonder if there is simething wrong with connection between my processor and the GTX 970...

have you fixed the BIOS problem? , maybe ist the GTX970 too fast for your RAM or you have a internal Graphiccard on motherboard which you have to disable in bios.

http://www.wikihow.com/Enter-BIOS

Start the PC with pressing multiple times F1 or F2 or DEL (ask your manual)

Which operating system you have ?

Good luck

check your power supply... maybe it is not supplying enough power to the boar of VGA

you have to test it on other machine by urself and see if it is working as claimed by those whom you bought if from... they might be deceiving you.

No no, it's not a problem with power supply, I have two - one 750W and second 730W with 80-Plus certificate, sometimes my PC is working fine with the GTX 970, but only sometimes, in 99% cases it won't boot to BIOS and Windows, but everything is working, all fans, drives, CD-Rom, was wonderwing if it might be a problem with my extension cord, but when I plug the power supply directly to the power socket - no change.

I've read your post and the many other posts below, it seems your using alot of different hardware, would you mind listing all the hardware you have. I'm particularly interested in the Motherboard and monitor, and the cables you are connecting them with.

before update my bios 0906 to 1006, my PC has working fine, everything oks, i've been used SLI normal, but the problem is apper after update my motherboard BIOS, my pc stopped working on error B2 code, i search what is error B2, is Legacy Option ROM Inicilization, i try to do a lof things, like, turn off all devices USB, change PSU, SETUP settings etc etc etc.

I disconnected a video card, and the problem continued, I tried the other video card and the problem did not appear any more, I already find that it has a problem with GTX970, so I tried to connect the PC only with it, without the SLI.

I tried turning on the computer to find out what the problem of the video card, the computer forever in error B2 or which it passes skin error B2 and starts Windows, it seems that all the drivers have not been installed.
