Spilled Water Turns On But Stops at Logo Screen and Progress Bar
A month ago in a galaxy far far away....
I spilled water on my baby because I am a clumsy Wookie and my fur caught my cup like a less agile Ewok. As I have not finished my level II training in force manipulation to reverse these water molecules inertia the water went into the keyboard and my girl shut down almost instantly.
As you can imagine I reacted like this (https://youtu.be/A6mHRqYTKhY) then I flipped it and let it air dry for 4 days etc...no luck nothing would turn on. This was like a month+ ago.
Wookies can get pretty mad sometimes and smash things so this Wookie went to meditate with some Wookiefoot and let it sit while I remained in silent contemplation.
Eventually I took her to the Apple store a few parsecs away and they gave me ZERO Wookie love for my sob story while still under factory Applecare etc.. flat fee of $1200+ credits...they did reset the PRAM and held down a bunch of other buttons then it started turning on again but currently it does not fully boot.
I apologize I probably should have taken a hologram to show boot sequence before tearing this apart to attempt to clean.
Ultimately, this Wookie has a few questions if I can ask any kind beings transmit me some data:
- Am I wasting my time...should I just order a new board myself?
- I assume I cannot ever get this covered by extended Applecare now that I took it in to Apple..it has a couple of the red dots slightly colored now also...is this correct?
- If I am not wasting my time I was hoping someone could point me to the part of the board to focus on cleaning with ISO 99%?
- I was also wondering if I really need to remove the heatsinks etc to clean?
So here I am...I have a new hope so I would also like to know if someone could point me to a new logic board since I may have to do that if this phantom menace persists.
Kind regards,
D
Update (04/05/2016)
Well..no luck I bathed it and scrubbed it with 99.9% iso.
Here are my results (after another cmd+r+p) while holding shift key down it almost finishes the bios load:

Should I abandon this or get ultrasonic cleaning maybe?
