MacBook Pro A1260 with single 4GB RAM (with other slot left empty)
Will a MacBook Pro A1260 accept a single PC2-5300 4 GB RAM Chip with the other RAM slot left empty? (The other slot is fried.)

Sure it will. Some times a defective slot will also take a chip of lessor value although 4 GIGs should be fine for this machine.
