Why is there distortion in my device's speaker?

The audio speaker on the device appears to be distorted and user can't hear music or alarms/notifications clearly. plugging in headphones does not help and sound is very muffled.

Due to the newly made phone covers which has a problem that the substance used to make the phone cover is very thick, therefore it makes the sound of the audio unclear.
