Switch battery with USB-C connector
I'd like to swap the magsafe charger/battery with a usb-c charger so that I can use an external usb battery charger. Would this be possible or is this too much work to make it worth it?

Sorry Tom not even possible! You'll need to sell your MacBook Pro and buy the new MacBook to gain that function.
The charging/power logic can't be converted to be compatible with the new USB-C interface and meet the power needs of your system.

@celikosan - Tom is not looking for a converter so he can charge/power his USB devices. He's looking at modifying his MacBook Pro so it can be powered via a USB-C charger.
