What is wrong when the shutter button would'nt work when pushed down?
When I push the shutter button to shoot the all functions works but the shutter button will not work to take picture. The camera was never dropped or bang up.

Nikon Issued a recall on the D5000 back in 2009. They claim that if your serial number matches the recall list, They will repair it. Here's a link to their page. Hope this helps.
