wifi problem connection: antenna cable and airport

i have a wifi problem connection: my macbook connects only if i lower the screen.

the apple assistance says there is a problem with the antenna cables in the display and with airport card. and says that is necessary to replace display and airport/bluetooth card with thermal pad.

do you have any alternative advice?

i find some guide for replace the airport card but i don't know how to fix the problem with the cable in the display...

This app will help in checking your WiFi services: WiFi Explorer. With it, see if you note a difference as you move the lid using a second display to watch things. Just to verify what you noted.

Is your bottom cover dented at all? If it is you may have a short or a damaged ribbon cable.

With the bottom cover removed, carefully remove the EMI foam from the AirPort card. Is the signal better?

I would guess the antenna leads are damaged given your symptoms, but I've also seen odd things with the AirPort board and the ribbon cable.
