MacBook Air: how to clean battery after beer spill?

My cat decided to celebrate New Year's Eve by spilling an entire beer onto my MacBook Air. I opened up the machine, cleaned the logic board & hard drive with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and let everything air out for over a week. I just powered it back on for the first time and everything's working great so far!

That's the good news. However, the one thing I haven't tested yet is the battery. It looks like it got pretty well soaked and shows several noticeable spots of dried beer on all of the cells. What's the best way to clean the battery before plugging it back in? Is it safe to use the isopropyl alcohol for this, too?
