Why is my lcd screen black, except for info & playback?

My lcd screen shows labels & will review previous pics, but is otherwise black, with no images on screen when turned on &/or shutter pressed. There is adequate battery & image space.

Could I have accidentally turned something off? It was operating petfectly over the past 4 weeks here in Europe up until an hour or so ago.

Do you have something to suggest may be wrong & could be corrected?
