How to check how good battery is with only phone and multimeter?

Hi guys,

I have a bunch of batteries and few working 3GSs. Recently I've been told you could test battery approximate state by checking amperage it takes during charging.

So now I have multimeter and if it is true I need some info on that and maybe points to put probes for checking that mAmps since I don't want to cut an Usb cord for that)

I don't know off hand.. How much mAh a 3GS battery should have.. Plus you're going to want to check them, once they have a full charge.. Lemme check..

Ok so it is 3.7 V and 1219 mAh
