iPhone contantly searching for signal

This problem actually started from my former 5.

It would search for service every couple of minutes which is so annoying! I cannot make a call without being interrupted, and when using the data, the device freezes every time it loses connection.

I bought a 6 plus, restored the backed up data from 5 and the problem persists.

I went to my carrier service center assuming the issue was within the SIM card, but in vein.

Apple service center tells me it is fault in the software but they cannot know exactly so I should just reset my phone to factory settings.

I really do not want to do this as it has been years since I have started using an iPhone, it is going to take me forever to recover my settings manually.

Does anyone know otherwise?

This is a belated answer so hopefully it can be of use to folks who search for and find this question.

After you have eliminated antennae or network locks as the possible culprit, searching issues on the iPhone 6 are usually related to the baseband IC. The baseband IC is very sensitive, just like the Touch IC's on the 6 Plus; it also suffers from poor quality traces and pads.

Go to your phone’s dialing keypad and dial *#06#. You should see the IMEI displayed.

If the IMEI is not displayed, the Baseband IC has to be reballed and two small copper traces (U1/V1) have to be rebuilt and solidified. This is commonly referred to as the “long jumper” solution. You can check out this answer (Service is "Searching" indefinitely) (by @teetopp) as it summarizes the issue really well.
