When I make a kee stroke on the remote, multiple characters appear. Where is the problem - in the remote or in the box? If I manage to still specify the movie, everything is working fine.

The real question in my first report was what part of the set has a problem - remote or the boxee box itself. And let me remind you about the problem: I hit one charecter, e.g. "c" and I receive a series of characters on the TV screen: "ccccccc...". Since I reported the problem I loaded an application on my iphone for the remote and it worked fine from there. I identified the part in this way - it is remote. I think it is most probably a mechanical/circuitry problem inside the remote and expected somebody to tell me that. Right now I am expecting somebody from the manufacturer to tell me that they are ready to replace my remote - I paid a lot of money for the product.

It is NOT the Remote that is causing this "phantom repeat", nor is it the battery or "Pairing" the remote to the Boxee Box. Pairing the remote to individual Boxee Boxes does NOT fix the multiple repeated responses though, it least not on my THREE Boxee Boxes on three different TV's. I've carefully pair each remote to individual "BB's", none turn on or control other BB's in the house. Still, one of my BB's exhibits the "phantom repeats" to single key presses, an I know it's not the factory BB controllers fault because it also happens with two different Android BB Apps I have on my Google Nexus 7 Tablet, which does control other BB's just fine with no phantom repeats, but NOT the one BB that is exhibiting the Phantom Repeats.. I'm afraid the problem is a bug in the hardware on perhaps a corruption that develops in the Firmware and a Complete Reset of the BB is the only thing that fixes it .... temporarily, when it starts happening again after a few weeks.

There is no iPhone app, thank CrApple for that because Boxee Box competed with their inferior CrAppleTV. There are two Android apps: "Boxee" and "Boxee Thumb". Boxee also gives you a keyboard on the Android device to input to your Boxee Box.

I'm facing the same issue, occurred all of a sudden. I followed the advice from @blueskymining but a complete reset didn't fix the problem at all. At least, now I know that is not firmware/configuration dependant. It is either an hardware problem, or rather an interference problem, since it occurs with a variable rate and incidence during the remote usage.

Sounds like it probably got wet and shorted out. The amount of money paid for an item has no real relationship to the integrity of the manufacturer.

Change the battery at the remote. My all 3 remotes did the same at different times, all 3 came back to good after battery replacement.

This problem has nothing to do with a fresh battery, i've tried several new batteries and no difference.

agree with @blueskymining definitely not a battery issue. I have 3 boxee boxes and they all have the same issue

It was not wet. That is for sure. As to short circuits, it is one of the possibilities that I characterized in general as circuitry problem. As to integrity of manufacturer, I had no intention to subject it any doubt. As to amount of money, it was more than two times higher than other units with similar functionality. My informal complaining groan here was a product of my hope that manufacturer's reps that might be reading this blog could have come back to me and, in support of the manufacturer's integrity, would send me a replacement for my remote.

The problem is solved by using iphone application instead of the remote.

The problem is a bug in the Boxee Box, I've tried two Android apps on my Nexus 7, both work fine with my other two Boxee Boxes on different TVs in separtate rooms and they work with no "phantom repeats" on KEY (not Kee) presses. Yet on the one BB that is suffering this issue, the Android Apps do the same thing as the BB Remote. There is a Bug in the BB firmware, or an instruction corruption that develops. I've had to reset my BB, it goes away at first and comes back in a few weeks.

hey mate, thanks for your post. factory reset of the Boxee does, as you mentioned, fix the issue for a short time. Unfortunately, the issue returns fairly quickly.

Have you found any other solution to this phantom repeat issue? I have setup xbmc/kodi on my boxee boxes and it's frustrating to use the remote to operate Kodi to search for titles. I have resorted to using android/ iphone apps to bypass the remote. However, I would still like to know if anyone has found a proper fix for the problem?
