How do I locate and then replace 3 volts battery? will Laptop restore to factory settings?

jpkiely, no it will not return to factory settings. Download the service manual for your computer from here. Page 61 will show you how to replace the battery.

jpkiely, you talking about 3V battery replacement ?
yes you can do the cell replacement but you should reprogram cell management chip inside of the battery. otherwise charging will not initiate even if you filled with new cells. if you have sound knowledge about PIC you can make a programming kit by your self.
