My iPod only works when I squeeze the top right?

Long story short, I took apart my iPod a while ago to try and fix the home button, and now the screen doesn't work unless I squeeze the top right corner of the iPod. Additionally the screen looks all weird during this, with some bright lines and in general a bit whited out. there is also a small black spot in the bottom right corner which I probably broke taking the thing apart. As near as I can guess, my problem is I'm not getting the one cable connected properly, and would like the opinion of someone who knows about these things.

The picture doesn't quite do justice to the color of the screen. You can see the white lines and black spot at the bottom. The image changes depending on how hard or soft I press.
