Micro USB Poot get little or no connection

Lately the charger port for my device has been getting worse. From my research i have found the method of re-soldering the micro USB port fixes this, but i have never done this. All i want to do is be able to charge the battery. Would it be possible to hard wire a positive and negative wire directly to the battery leads and connect those to a make shift plug that i can attach to a 5.0 volt 2.2 amp power supply? would this method be suitable for charging this LiIon battery? i have no need to transfer data through the USB Cord at this point. I know its not aesthetically appealing, but that's what i want to do. i just nee to know if it will work. will it interfere with the battery stats of the device? will it reset the battery percentage if i charge this way? will it back feed power in such a way that will damage things in the device?

Clayton ketchum, yes it is possible but you have no feedback circuit. You need to come up with a way to ensure that you do not overcharge the battery. Any overcharging could cause the battery to explode. will it interfere with the battery stats of the device? yes, it will not show as being charged etc. will it reset the battery percentage if i charge this way? only if you disconnect to charge and reconnect after charging will it show the percent. will it back feed power in such a way that will damage things in the device? Possibly unless you disconnect it anytime you charge it. My suggestion would be to simply replace the charging port. It will eliminate a lot of hassle and potential for damage.
