When I plug my HTC Desire V in to the charger it will not charge. The battery indicator on the device shows that the batter is not connected (the lightning bolt indicating it should be charging is not present) and my phone doesn't charge no matter how long I leave it connected to the charger.

There may be a couple things causing these issues:
1.Broken Charger:
SOLUTION: The charger itself may be broken or defective; if this is the case you should purchase a new charger.
2. Broken Charging Port:
SOLUTION: The port to connect the charger on the phone itself may be broken and need repair. You should contact the manufacturer if this needs repair.
