New battery not charging

I have just replaced the battery (purchased from iFixit) in a 15gb 3rd generation iPod. At first everything worked fine. But now, the battery is not recharging when I use the AC adapter or when I plug it into my iMac. Please advise...!

It's been plugged in to the AC adapter for over an hour. Nothing. I assume it is just plain dead. Probably defective...

I would check 2 things - first of all - check if the batter is well connected and if so - > use a multimeter and try to measure the voltage of the battery. if it's below 3v - it can't work at all

Is there any message in the screen or in itunes - or is it simply dead ?
