MacBook Pro battery when watching online video (youtube or netflix)

I bought a new Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2009 Battery from iFix last week. it was a fairly easy process to replace the battery.

However, I was expecting to be blown away by the new battery after having used my old one for about 5 years, but the new battery only gives me 2 hours of online video viewing, and 3.5 - 4 hours of web surfing!!

Firstly, is that normal? Or did I get a lemon?

Secondly, If it is normal, can someone tell me how to increase the battery performance? I'm currently on Yosemite, and don't mind switching back to Mavericks.

And, by the way, I already did the SMC reset and calibrated the battery.

More specs:

MacBook Pro Mid 2009

8 GB ram (4 GB X 2 1066 MT/s)

Samsung SSD 500 GB

Thank you in advance.

I would start by making sure your running the latest version of Adobe Flash (64bit version). Flash is a hog! The newer versions are better but still way to heavy CPU & battery) given what others are able to do.

How much space is free on your SSD? You should have about 1/3 free. You could try upping the RAM as that will help remove the need to use viral memory on the disk (SSD).

Are you using TRIM services?

Thanks much for your response..

So, I have the latest version of flash installed.

I have a 500GB SSD out of which only 80 GB is used, (Yosemite fresh install + office and some minor apps).

I already have 8 GB of ram, which is the recommended max for this laptop..

And, yes, i've enabled TRIM as soon as I installed Yosemite..

Don't have a clue of whats going on. I'll call iFixit tomorrow.. I'm starting to think that the battery i received was defective..
