iPhone 6 logic board - long screw damage

The other day i was going to replace my screen on my iPhone 6.

When i had to put the EMI shield back on i accidently used the 1mm longer screw for the buttom left hole (so i guess i made some minor long screw damage to the Logic board and broke some traces. also heard a little noise when screwing the last mm of the screw) :(

And now it doesnt show any picture on the LCD at all. Have anyone experienced that before?

Read something about that it sould be able to get fixed here

But my phone doesn't show any blue screen.

It also viberates every few seconds when it's in a charger (only after newest software update).

It is getting detected in iTunes.

I attached a picture here so you can get an idea of the damage (red circle marks the screw).

I would really like to get it repaired but the problem is im from Denmark and it's not possible to find any experienced person to make the repair here. So i would like to ship it to a repair business nearby country like UK/Germany if it could get fixed.

Any1 know any business that might be able to complete this repair?

Hi Jahn,

If I were you, I would start with the following troubleshooting:

1/ Hard reboot the phone: press and hold power button + home button for ~12 seconds, then restart;

2/ Power cycle + clean and re-seat the screen cables: disconnect the battery connector (DO NOT remove the battery), clean the screen connectors on the board and the screen cables using a cotton swab dipped in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. Do not let the alcohol touch the screen. With battery still disconnected, press and hold power button for ~15 seconds, then reconnect the battery, gently re-seat the screen cables make sure they are properly connected. Reboot your phone.

3/ If no change after 1 and 2, try a new known good screen. You could have pulled on the screen cables and damaged them.

4/ If 1,2, and 3 do not solve it then you may have logic board damage. It could be ESD that fried something, or long-screw damage, or pry mistake if you damaged something around the screen connectors (examine around them using a good magnifying glass, look for anything broken/damaged/part torn).

Start troubleshooting and tell us what you find out!

does this work btw

If it is not long screw damage or pry damage or a fried back-light component, it will work. If it is long screw damage or pry damage (something removed from the board)or damage to the back-light circuit, it will need micro-soldering to fix. Such as the guys you can find on the web page I link to from my profile.

@rany What's the use of holding the power button for 15 seconds with the battery disconnected?

What's power cycling?

完成的

Holding the power button like that will deplete all the stored electricity such as in the caps.

This helps reset the devices in some instances.

It also helps decrease the possibility of capacitor discharge that may cause some filters to blow.

Power cycling is enssentially doing that.

@rany Ooh interesting, I didn't know that. I thought just unplugging and replugging the battery connector was power cycling. What you say makes sense.

Yup, needs micro-soldering. This is very similar to neurosurgery and the micro-jumpers used are so small that a surgical microscope is actually used to install/test them.

Sometimes it needs 2 attempts before all the jumpers "take" and they are then fixed in place using UV adhesive similar to the sort used on LCD repairs.

Interestingly the work I've done suggests that in fact the signal that is missing has nothing to do with the LCD drive directly it simply detects that a panel is there and correctly installed.

This is similar to the EDID data on a laptop screen (cough OEM non user replaceable panels /cough)

If Apple wanted to they could lock out third party screens but that would suck.
