Digitizer works but display doesn't?

Over a month ago, my three-year-old "washed" her Samsung Tab 3 Kids tablet. Using videos, we opened it up and took care of visible moisture. We left it open for awhile and then put it back together.

It turns on, making the start-up sound. When I swipe the screen, it starts the looping background music that plays while on kid's mode. I can also start programs.

The problem is that there is no display. It is completely black. Also, the LED's that used to light up during charging are no longer lighting.

I would like to try to replace a part or parts to be able to use this tablet for myself (my daughter got another one for Christmas -- this one with a warranty).

Can anyone help me determine which part or parts need to be replaced? I am not concerned about the LED's not lighting, but it is, of course, worthless with no display.

Thanks for your help!

I have found replacement LED screens to buy. I am wondering if the process of removing the digitizer from the LED will ruin the adhesive. Should I buy a new digitizer, as well? They seem to come with adhesive. Are there any other parts that might affect this problem? Thank you, again.
