Main part of keyboard not working after water spill

Last sunday I spilled some water on to my Macbook keyboard. I immediately wiped it up and nothing happened. I continued with my work, but about 30 minutes later, the MacBook made this sound when pressing key but the key has no function at that time. I shut down my computer and left it for a day.

The next day I switched on the laptop and suddenly the whole keyboard didn't work. Only the shift key blinked green. I shut down the computer again and it remained till yesterday. Than yesterday I tried it again and the Keyboard didn`t work. Just when I opned a word document and tried every key suddenly the computer draw a lot of omega symbols on the page. To stop it, I shut it down again.

I´m not sure if the whole keyboard is broken now and need to replace or maybe there is just a little water drop that isn`t dried and just hinder the keyboard work proper?

I put out all the keys today but didn`t find any water or damage.

Do you recommend to change the keyboard or maybe just wait some more days until the water will dry and the keyboard will work again?

Thank you very much for any help!

Sadly you only saw the easy accessible side. At this point I suspect you have more damage deeper inside.

This is a big job and you may end up needing some expensive parts. Are you able to take your system apart? Review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2008 and Early 2009 Upper Case Replacement. You may need a new upper case or a new logic board (depending on were the water ended up)

You may want to think about bring it in to an authorized service center (not an Apple Store). They maybe willing to fix your system.

Thanks Dan, but what confuse me is that when I press for example the key Z the MacBook draw this Omega signs! Is that not the last sign of life of the keybpard?

Sadly, the last gasp before drowning ;-{ The keyboard is a grid of wires like the weave of cloth. So the key button shorts across the X & Y lines of the wires, this then is driven to the logic on the logic board to convert into a signal the system is able to work with. We use the terms Outer World & Inner World to express the differences here. Right now your Outer World mechanical switch system is failing do to corrosion across the exposed surfaces. The Inner World logic is still working which is why you press the key you are getting something (wrong as it is). Taking the keyboard out while doable is a big under taking as you have 85 + screws and/or pop rivets to get out then you will need to clean everything carefully. Hopefully the damage is not to bad and can be cleaned off. Or, the easy way is just swap out the upper case.
