After I replace my Hard drive, how do I get the so back on the new drive? Do I need the original discs?

It's according to which generation of machine you have. We need to know what you are working on and can tell that by the last four figures of your serial number.

no, if it connects to wifi, hold the "option" key as the computer starts up and follow the recovery via the internet to restore the start up
