Hi!!! I've a question, is it possible upgrade the module of bluetooth of my MacBook Pro mid 2009 (5,4)? I would like add a bluetooth low energy module.

Not really possible once it's out you'd have to have (find) a the newer replacement card, all for relatively little little gain. You could turn off Bluetooth when not in use much easier.

AFAI the '12 card will not fit into the case, and, even if it did Yosemite may still not be able to see it or use it. It seems that some, but not all, of the '12 laptops may run Yosemite... a strange decision by Apple.

I think the benefit would be to add the handoff features of Yosemite. I'm interested if this is possible too.

Yes I would like use continuity and handoff on Yosemite. My Mac now have an SSD and it's very good for my uses, but if there are the possibility to upgrade bluetooth and also wireless board, I'll be more happy
You may want to read this: ArsTechnica - Handoff services. Basically, you're ahead of the curve while Apples apps will be the first the rest of the pack needs to release updated apps (both iOS & OS-X) to leverage it.

Very odd that BT LE is required for handoff, I have an older 2008 15" macbook pro and handoff works perfectly fine without the newest bluetooth...

Between what two devices? I think you need the LE for iPhone & iPad.

Mainly because Yosemite needs it for the support of Handoff (why ....) I'm interested whether this is possible.

Hessel, You'll need to speak with Apple for the nitty gritty on why they decided on not offering a way-out for older systems (external device). In a nutshell the hardware is the limiting factor internally. Apple used many different WiFi/Bluetooth boards across all of their systems and some are just darn difficult to even get to.
