backlight not working after water entry

hello,

i got my iphone 5 with a very bad water entry.

i cleaned up everythng by a repair shop and it got working. but the problem is that its backlight is completely dead. i could understand phone and the display is in good condition because i checked display in anothor iphone. but in my iphone 5 the backlight is off.

i can connect phone to itunes and rest of evrythng is perfect.

the shop guy told me that there is an IC for backlight and its not available anywhere and the phone i still useless. Is there actually any IC for backlight problem or what is the proper sollution for this?

im looking forward for better option.

Sheesh, fixmytouch, I thought you would have a better answer with all the spamming you've been doing today. The OP said that he tried the display and confirmed that it worked in another phone.

RIYAS---the shop is correct, partly. There is a backlight ic in the iPhone 5, but it is not impossible to get. I have two on the way from China right now. But replacing the backlight ic is at the end of line of troubleshooting that starts with the LCD connector and LCD backlight filters---often these have heavy oxidation that requires reflowing in order to restore the backlight. Sometimes this is all that is needed to bring back a backlight in iPhone 5.

If not the connector or filters, then it is a lot more work, the iPhone EMI shields must be desoldered to expose the backlight coil and diode. If replacement of these two components doesn't solve, THEN you'd replace the backlight ic. That is a pretty tough repair though, the chip butts up again the NAND chip where all your data is stored.

My recommendation would be to send your phone out to see if reflowing the LCD connectors/replacing the filters by the connector will solve. If you want to find your way to my board-level mail in repair shop, just click my name.
