Is an antenna [from the display] cable "socket" repair possible?

Fixing a liquid-spill victim from an employee... the antenna cable connections were stuck to the airport card. Unfortunately, despite careful removal, the end connections came off from the cables. Can those be repaired? I'd REALLY like to not have to remove (and probably damage) the LCD just to have a working wifi/bluetooth signal. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

If you have the skills and can locate replacement connectors (it's a common form but where do you find them?) It should be possible. You may have to seed professional help to locate the parts do a splice and solder (it's not like fixing lamp cords).

At least you have saved the cost of the dis/reassembly of most of the machine.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

Thanks for the input... I suspected that might be the answer. C'est la vie. Might be fun to source some components.

As always, thanks for your time to comment.

Ever find a resolution to this @jcarter? I'm in the exact same position; repaired the logic board following a water spill, but the antenna plugs no longer sit into the socket.

Once the antenna cables break from the plugs, you have no choice but to replace the entire display assembly or use a USB wireless adapter.

I find that hard to believe. If you have a new cable, then you'd need to remove the display unit in order to install the cable, but surely not need replace it for a new one.

Find it what you will, it's the facts. Ever taken apart a MacBook Air display?

No, that is absolutely not true. MacTek you do not deserve that name. Ignoring fixing the antenna sockets for a second, replacing the antenna cord is possible without getting a new display. To do such, you must have a replacement antenna cord (I take mine off cracked MacBook air screens I have). Then you have to carefully remove the bezel of the MacBook Air. You will have to use a heat gun to melt the glue attaching the bezel. Then carefully remove it without adding too much pressure so not to crack the screen. After removing the bezel its a piece of cake to remove the old antenna cable and replace it.

Bret, considering that it is very easy to break the LCD, this should not be attempted by just everyone. So for most people, the simple answer is not possible.

I have to agree here with Tom, While the Unibody MacBook's & MacBook Pro antenna board is replaceable by just pulling off the clutch cover, the Air's are a very different story! Review this IFIXIT teardown: MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304 Teardown. Check out Step's 20 thru 23. All of the air's use a similar setup. Lastly, Apple doesn't offer the part as a spare so you'll need to get it from a junker.

You are 100% right. Once the cable breaks, you have no other choice but to replace the entire display or use a USB adapter to connect the MBA to a landrop.
