Do I just need to get a new one

I dropped my iPad numerous times and the screen cracked. Pretty bad. And I got bored one day and started picking at the glass which came right off. Now there is a pretty big hole in the bottom left hand corner and I can see a screw. And a big hole starting at my home button and continuing to the left. It's been working fine until about 2 weeks ago when the screen started spazzing out and making motions on the screen (deleting stuff, opening apps, moving the screen) it was almost as if a ghost was using it. Then i noticed the other night the whole bottom half of my screen wasn't working at all. It's very frustrating when you cant type or press anything at that area. Ive tried turning it off and on again and I've tried RESETING it, i even did the iOS 7 update to see if that was the problem but nothing worked at all. If anything it made it worse. Do I need to just get a new iPad :( or is there something i can possibly do to fix it without buying a fix your own kind of thing offline.

Skarl, replace the digitizer. Here is the guide for it. By now you may already have issues with your LCD, but for now replacing the digitizer should resolve your issues. The more you pick away on " the glass" the greater your chances of destroying your LCD.

What device is this? Not an iPad first gen 3G---you can't put iOS7 on a first gen.

Do you mean an iPad 3?

And no. You don't need to get a new one. Replace your digitizer and you'll be fine.

You do need to know which device first!
